WEEE Legislation

What is WEEE Legislation and why are we making changes?

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations in the UK require producers to finance the recycling and recovery of electronics, aiming to reduce landfill waste.

1) Products that fall under this legislation are powered by electric currents EG: Power Source = Main, Battery powered and solar powered products

  • Not included : Where electrical energy is only used for support or control functions  EG: Petrol lawn mowers that only needs a spark to start it (electronic ignition)

John Lewis needs to report on how much EEE products we place on the market.

WEEE is placed on the market the first time it becomes available for distribution or use in the UK.

  • Own brand EEE products
  • Branded EEE products that JL import into the UK
